Y.E. meeting

Oh what an enthusiastic bunch of Y.E.'s Janette Bright ran today's workshop to make a sock monkey, the girls didn't want to stop when their parents turned up to collect them! (We also had some of the adults making sock monkeys, the white one below was made by Beth's mum. This monkey was made by one of the younger members of the group. We had a visitor today, Helen, who we had met at our Library exhibition 'Stitch a Square' session. She says she will come to the next meeting in October- silk painting.The sock monkey's came together for a photo call (some had pins holding essential bits),before going home.
The Y.E's meet in a hall behind Chelmsford Cathedral, I just had to take a photo of the lovely patterns in the brickwork.

Pauline has been at the opening of our exhibition today and says that we have had a lot of visitors, Nickie and I are spending the day there tomorrow. The Maeldune Centre has now been booked for our exhibition next year.

Shopping spree

As it has been some time since I bought any new books and I had a very, very, very small rebate from the tax man, I hot footed it over to Craft Arena (no allegiance) to spend it on 'Inspired to Quilt' and 'Freestyle Machine Embroidery'. As usual, Denise shows me all the new stock that has arrived since my last visit. I just had to but these three reels of braid, just what I need for the bag I am working on at the moment. AND I just had to have the peacock woodblock, and Quilting Arts has an article by Jackie, a fellow blogger.I pass this tree on the way to and from the shop and at this time of the year it is alive with silk worms-(unfortunately the wind kept blowing and that fuzzy blob is one of the many worms)The tree is covered in their silken webs.I then went to Primark for my usual scout around for bits I can customise and found this lovely necklace, as it was broken I got it at a reduced price, a job for Kezzy sorting those beads to colour.This is what I have been working on the last couple of night's. One of the girls in work saw the fabric cuff I made last weekend and asked me to make one for her in blue, just need to bead the edges now

Y.E

Tomorrow I am going to be helping Y.E., it is somrthing I have wanted to do for some time, but have always had prior arrangements for previous meetings. My daughter has said that she would also like to go( under no pressure from me), I am really pleased about this, as she has been at Senior School for three years and only had 3 textile lessons! The girls will be making sock monkeys.

Diversity fever continued!

Lessons stopped today briefly so we could watch Diversity on the local news. Since last year our school has been having a major re-build, and phase 1 is coming up to completion. It has been announced at school today that Ashley and Jordan will 'open' the new school buildings later in the year. (After our inspection in September) Off to do a bit of stitching in the garden before I have to start the evening meal.

I need some therapy!!!

I am not the fastest typist ( I didn't do secretarial studies) so it has taken me quite some time to type up the profiles for all the members of our group Fen Edge Textiles. The hardest bit was having to write about me-trying to make me sound interesting. Oh well I have emailed it off to Pauline now, time for me to some stitching (my therapy)- another fabric cuff.

Britian's Got Talent

There has been a party atmosphere at work today. Everyone was in a good mood due to Diversity winning B.G.T. on Saturday. Ashley the spokesman and choreographer for the dance group used to be Head boy when he was here, and his younger brother and sister are still with us. We have had the press and television cameras in school filming Ashley's brother (once he had done his G.C.S.E. math's exam!)

Ignoring the dust

The sun shinning made me decide that the dust could carry on protecting my furniture for a few more days. Instead I spent a large amount of today tidying up my very neglected garden. Alan spent the day playing 'Ed the Shed', fitting lots of shelves and cupboards for the many things that he just has to keep for 'just in case'. I shouldn't complain really, because the 'just in case' have at times, proved to be very useful.

I have been suffering with-drawl symptoms not having any stitching to do since finishing my wall hanging. So late this afternoon, I cut up some 'fabric' I had made on the embellisher last week and hadn't done anything with due to the funeral, visits to Court and hospital. I decided to make some fabric cuffs and even Kezzy decided to do some stitching with me. What a lovely Sunday afternoon! I am helping out at my Guilds Y.E. on Saturday and she has said that she wants to come along to that too!

Back to work tomorrow, GROAN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Chuffed!!!!!!!!

Just watched the last section of Britain's Got Talent, to see the results.
Diversity won!!!!!!
