Butterfly Effect

Look what arrived in my post today!
My book from Trudi that I won in her Butterfly Effect Giveaway.  It contains art work  and poetry from the children who were in Terezin Concentration Camp.  It is a very touching and moving book.
''15,000 children under the age of fifteen passed  through this camp only 100 survived ''
All those young lives lost in only 2 years!!!!( between 1942-1944)
All the .butterflies that Trudi collects will be sent on to the Holocaust Museum in Houston click here to see the latest butterflies that have winged their way to Trudi.  Each butterfly will be used to represent one innocent life lost.  Have you taken part yet????
Trudi also enclosed these cards as well.   Thank you so very much Trudi!!!

Late this afternoon, due to the snow starting to melt, I started the Christmas shopping as I cant ignore the fact that Christmas is fast approaching.  I didn't get as much done as I had hoped as Kezzy was asked to babysit so had to cut the shopping trip short.  I did mange to get 2 very noisy dinosaurs for my Grandsons-my daughter will love me LOL!!
I also found these stencils (very good value, 2 in a pack) in 'The Works' and just a few more beads and buttons.(Sorry photo's are a bit dark)
I have taken part in the Butterfly Effect and sent off 2 butterflies a few weeks ago, and tonight I had an email from Trudi to say I had won the book ' I Never Saw Another Butterfly' she was giving away:0)

A very wet Sunday here!

I have now finished the 2nd butterfly  for the Holocaust Museum will be going in the post this week. (The one I was cutting at our exhibition yesterday ended in the bin as I was not happy with it).
I was hoping to get a lot more done today, but Kezzy needed a lot of prodding to get her homework done.  (It was like watching paint dry-gloss of course!)  In the end she let me help her.  Not much of a Sunday for her, taking her all day to do two subjects!
Because it has rained here all day, I thought I would post these images I took the other day. This rose, apart from the lovely sunset colour,  has the most wonderful smell.

The Morning Glory is such a glorious shade of blue, I still have a lot of buds on this plant, I hope they flower before the frost comes.

I think fungi are so interesting, finding this one brought back happy childhood memories as well.

Butterflies and Beatles

I have finished my vessel completely now.  I painted the' fabric' to match the vessel.  When I was 10, I had a Beatles brooch in the shape of a guitar with the faces of the Beatles under a plastic cover.  I decided to make my flower centres in a similar manner.  I had photocopied and reduced the images that I needed, Tim Holtz Distress inks was used to age the pictures and then coated with Glossy Accents to seal it.

Tonight is my first evening at home since Saturday and an added bonus was the fact that I had it to myself :0)  .  My butterfly for the Houston Museum is finished but I have started another one, this time with a lot of yellow so it will be like the one in the poem.  I shall take it to Maldon with me on Saturday so that I can cut back the layers while I am stewarding at our FET exhibition.

Butterfly

I went with my daughter to collect my youngest grandson from Playschool, and as the sun was shining we had lunch in the garden-wonderful!

I have started to make my butterfly to send to Trudi, she is then going to be sending it with all the others she collects to the Holocaust Museum in Houston.
See button in my side bar for more details. Lots of cutting away still to do.
Had another night off from cooking, (the third). We went out with our friends Lucy and Roger to a local Italian restaurant. They are on television at the moment. Roger is in the program 'Police Interceptors' and Lucy is in the program 'Emergency Bikers', she is the first female police motor biker for 20 years.

Butterflies wanted, can you help????.

When I was doing a bit of blog hopping I happened across Trudi's blog and she neds some help for a project that has touched her.
The Holocaust Museum in Houston is wanting 1,500,00 butterflies for an exhibition to start in Spring 2013, to serve as memory to the 1,500,000 innocent children who perished in the Holocaust.(One butterfly for every child that perished)
The reason that the butterfly has been chosen as a symbol is because of the following poem:-

Saw Another Butterfly
The last, the very last,
So richly, brightly, dazzlingly yellow
Perhaps if the sun’s tears would sing
against a white stone....

Such, such a yellow
Is carried lightly ’way up high.
It went away I’m sure
because it wished
to kiss the world good-bye.

For seven weeks I’ve lived in here
Penned up inside this ghetto.
But I have found what I love here.
The dandelions call to me
And the white chestnut branches in the court.

Only I never saw another butterfly.
That butterfly was the last one.
Butterflies don’t live in here, in the ghetto.
