This 'n 'that.

The Thursday evening before going on holiday, after getting everything packed, I manged to escape to my playroom.
I had bought this necklace in Primark, but I wanted to change the colour as it was a rather insipid pink. First of all I attacked it with some sand paper, cleaned it of all the dust then coloured it with 2 different colour alcohol inks. I was pleased with how it turned out and now I have got to do something similar to one of Mum's necklaces.
I also made this 30th anniversary card for a blogging friend. I am hoping to meet her in the flesh at the FOQ all being well.

Although my holiday didn't go quite as planned, I did manage to track down some Carn pottery. I couldn't find the shape vase that I have used in my textiles but I hope to use the first one in some way eventually.

I got this one in St. Ives and the one below at the Lizard

I had an email on Wednesday to say my ALQS4 quilt had arrived safely in Tasmania and that she was very happy with it, what a relief!

Update on ALQS4

When I eventually got home from clothes shopping for my fussy teenage daughter, there was a parcel on my door mat. I couldn't think what it could be. To my astonishment it was my quilt from the swap, organised by Kate.
It is stunning, I have taken several photos for you all to see the different quilting patterns that have been used. My quilt has been made by Ildiko, from Budapest. She has some lovely images on her blog, but it is written in Hungarian and I haven't found the translator button yet. It certainly wasn't snail mail!

Embroiderers' Guild tonight.

I have got the missing address now, so I can now parcel up my ALQS4, ready for posting tomorrow.
Sorted out the study and checked (again) I have all the paperwork sorted for tonight's EG meeting. We have Cas Holmes coming to give the talk. I am really looking forward to this as Libby went on a course with her not very long ago and was inspired by her workshop.

Busy, busy, busy.

I took photos of my quilt, showing details of different areas for the ALQS4, and sent them off to Katie, wrote letters for the snail mail and emails, cleaned windows......... finished tacking all the fabrics in place........

AND started machining.
The 2 T.A.'s who work with me, both want my Hundertwasser quilt, so I have started making them a mini version of it as a 'thank you' for all their help. I need to get them finished by Friday.
I have really enjoyed my weekend!!!
First thing tomorrow night, I need to catch up on my blog reading.

Finished!!

Apart from making a quilt label, I have now finished my 'Hundertwasser'. I have tried to take a photo tonight, but cant get a decent image, so I will do that tomorrow.
Due to having to go and visit Hubby's friend who is quite ill and in hospital, (he was our best man when we got married 10 years ago) I didn't get round to starting on my flower panel, but friends are more important. There is always tomorrow.

I have spent a good bit of this evening on the phone chatting to mum and various friends.  Having done that, I have managed to stitch two bindings on my 'quilt' and will do some more tomorrow night. My eyes are just too tired to do more.

The end's in sight.

Having spent every available moment sewing in all those, what seemed hundreds of ends, I decided I needed to stitch the fabric in front of the houses. Once these ends are sewn in I can do the binding. I should finish this by the weekend, all being well.

'Hundertwasser' continued

A lovely evening spent machine stitching my ALQS4 piece. As you can see by the picture, I have nearly finished the yellow sky. Lots and lots of threads to sew in!

Getting there!

I have ignored my reports tonight, well and last night as well if I'm truthful. Last night I was out with my daughter and friends making a few cards.
Tonight I have finished the hand stitching and additional painting, so all I need to do now is make it into a quilt. I have to get it finished by July 1st

Tuesday, 8 June 2010

I have had my secretary's hat on tonight. Our Branch is hosting Regional Day next year and I had to do some paperwork ready for our next meeting.
Then it was time for some textile therapy. I finished drawing the flowers on my panel in readiness to start stitching-hopefully this weekend, although, shopping for Kezzy's birthday present on Saturday and I am going up to Norwich for the day on Sunday, so maybe not!
I have also done a bit more to my Hundertwasser inspired piece for the ALQS 4. Lots of ends to stitch in at work tomorrow.
My piece of fabric for the RRC has arrived in the post from Margaret today. It was originally started by Diane using Australia as her inspiration passed onto Deb, then Margaret. I now have to make this into a vessel by the end of the month!

Time to play.

What a lovely day I've had. Lunch in the garden, visit from my grandchildren and some sewing.
First of all, a bit more work on my Hundertwasser for the ALQS4. I want to be able to get it ready to do the hand stitching on it at work next week. I also started on this work first, as I was plucking up courage to cut up Nickie's R.R.C fabric. This is how it came from Diane.
I cut the row of Euro symbols apart so that I could have 1 in each corner and the large one as the focal point. Then reversed some of the strips. Taking it to Debs tomorrow for her to embellish.

In the post today.......

I received my prize from Wanda's pass it forward giveaway, isn't it lovely. I shall enjoy wearing it. I now have to make something to give away, the question is, what?
I have done some work on my ALQS4 at last. Stencilled circles with three different colours with Markalls (I love the smell of them, reminds me of the art room at school) They now have to dry for a couple of days and then I will start machine stitching-yippee!!!!
The assignment for the art course this week is photography, thank goodness for digital cameras!

Tonight's exercises.

I had to create a scene from a magazine or postcard without a paintbrush. I used natural sponge, cotton reel, an old dry baby wipe, lolly stick, coffee stirrer, cotton bud, pipe cleaner and credit card. Below is the image I tried to re-create from the magazine Lonely Planet. Loved every moment!

Also did a drawing exercise, and used the same vase as before, it's hard I find, getting the sides even.
Also did a bit more painting on this piece of fabric for the ALQS4, using Hundertwasser again for my inspiration.

Exercises, but not the keeping fit sort

Today I have been trying to do 'catch up' with some of the exercises for the art course. I have managed to do six , but still loads more assignments to do (6) and another one will be posted tomorrow. I have still been playing with paper, tomorrow I start more drawing:0)
I have also started work on my piece for the ALQS4, just painted some fabric so far- nothing to show just yet.

A bit puzzled.

I have finished my KISS project but I don't know what I have to do next. I will post a photo tomorrow and catch up on all those blogs I haven't read this week. I will now continue to play with my sheers again if I can remember what I was up to- I shall miss having hand stitching-maybe I could start my ALQS4 piece!
