Tag Tuesday-bunting.

I hadn't realised how patriotic I was.  It is so lovely to see all the red, white and blue bunting decorating shops and houses as I drive around.
My tag, just HAD to be based on the Union flag.  A craft vilene base, to which I bonded some cotton fabric. The white diagonal cross is mulberry paper, the white upright cross is felt and the red cross is yet more patchwork fabric.  A lovely red 'velvet ric-rac from my stash to finish the 'flag'.  Blanket stitched on my  sewing machine to keep all the different elements in place.  Crown brad, ribbon and wire from my stash.
My tag is now hanging in my porch, ready for next week.

Material Girls exhibition.

As Sunday was such a lovely sunny day, (so we could have the roof down) I drove Nickie and I to Horndon on the Hill for the Material Girls exhibition in a beautiful old building.  As navigating is not one of Nickie's strong points, we went a very long and scenic way to get there, lol.  Some very lovely work to see, a catch up with friends too.  As I wasn't sure that I would be allowed to post pictures of anyone's work, I have used this one of Lynda up giving a talk and demonstration, always so generous with her knowledge.

Tag Tuesday- found.

Forgot to post this tag last week-sorry!
I used this mother of pearl disc, several of which were found when we cleared out my Grandmothers house.  Not sure what they were for, but it had been suggested at one time that they were poker chips.  As my Grandmother was a very strict Methodist, I can't think they were hers, maybe they were my Grandfather's, who was a terrific hoarder of everything.

Everything came from my stash to complete the tag, I even taught myself some Origami.

Tag Tuesday-gardening.

I enjoy growing my own plants from seed, although I must admit I haven't grown any this year as the weather is far too cold and wet for me to venture into the greenhouse.
I made an image transfer with Omni-Gel from one of the seed packets waiting to be sown.  This I then adhered to a background of crumpled brown paper bonded to craft vilene that I then coloured with Brush inks.  The words were printed onto acetate, that was coloured with alcohol inks and adhered to tissue with Klear. Flowers, brads, lolly stick and string from my stash.

Tag Tuesday-Baking

My daughter (16), who usually avoids the kitchen like the plague, started baking cakes a couple of months ago, a hobby that we can do together.
I used a cup cake recipe from a free store magazine for the background adhered to a card tag.  Cake case is made from some packaging, which I coloured with an ink pad. The cake is painted craft vilene painted yellow.  The icing is satin fabric bondawebbed to felt.  I then had a lovely time stitching beads randomly. As Kezzy has being making fondant flowers to go on her cakes, I just had to add a flower from my stash.

Dyed fabric.

Here are the fabrics that I dyed on Saturday.  The first picture is my space dyed pieces.
The second photo is the results of graduation dyeing.  These fabrics will be printed on next time we go up to Cambridge.

Yay!!

Just tried an idea of Julie's from this blog:-       http://balzerdesigns.typepad.com  to colour pages in my sketchbook.  I rubbed 2 shades of green and a yellow soft pastel over my pages, then covered it with gesso.  Shall be using this idea again.

Back up the M11

For yesterdays meeting of F.E.T.  Once all the business was out of the way it was time to get dyeing.  We did it plastic bags, wouldn't want to spoil the college's wood floor!!

I left my fabric in the solution over night and off to rinse it out shortly.  This is the one time I don't mind ironing, that will be tomorrows job.

Tag Tuesday-sewing.

Cut out a tag  from brown card and randomly stamped all over with a Paper Artsy stamp I have had for years.  The tailors dummy is a Tim Holtz die used on my Big Shot, which is cut out form card that I have covered with a piece of dressmaking tissue.  Machine stitched lace along bottom.  All other embellishments from my stash.
