Special times.

I was asked to babysit again today, ;0) only the one Grandson though.  We had a lovely time, snuggled in my sewing chair, reading books.  The cover on this book fascinates Zach and he never tires of me reading it to him.
Also managed to do some a little stitching as well tonight.
Due to a few problems, my young 'lodger' will be staying a bit longer than was originally planned.  Never a dull moment!!

As the sun was shining this morning, I have been able to take some photos of a few of my presents.
Mum made this cushion for my armchair in the lounge, it has very deep seats and this should make it a lot comfier to sit there when I am doing my hand stitching.

When my brother was in India filming the Commonwealth Games, he saw this jacket  and thought of me.  You can see by the small photo of the detail, that it is covered in rows of hand stitching.  I cant wait to wear it.

He also bought me this beautiful scarf, it is so delicate, I shall have to be very careful it does get damaged when I wear it.
Christmas has now been packed away, and  we even managed to do some tidying in the garden today. Seeing the sun makes you feel much more enthusiastic to tackle those chores!

A little bit late.

The time has just flown since I last blogged and the cakes were delicious.  We came back to Essex,a day earlier than we had originally planned.  This meant we were able to take Mum shopping at Lakeside on Wednesday, which has become a bit of a tradition.  The shops were very busy and I didn't find anything to buy- good news for the Bank balance!
On Thursday we went to my daughters for another 'Christmas '.  I have had some lovely presents this year and will post some pictures of three gifts that I want to share with you, later this week.( Hubby didn't buy me any bits for my car this year- what a result!)  The photo above, is of my youngest Grandson enjoying his dessert.
More shopping Friday, this time in Basildon.I  managed to find some cotton rope, which I hope will dye beautifully, not that I have anything to use it on at the moment.
Yesterday was another family meal, my turn to cook for the 11 of us - this time to celebrate the New Year and Mums Birthday which will be on Tuesday.  I was given this bottle of Champers by the parents of my class, for Christmas, and what better reason than this, to drink it!!

Today, we took Mum back home to Buckingham and I have manged to play on my sewing machine this evening for the first time for ages. ;0)
All that is left to say is belated wishes for a Happy New Year to anybody reading this blog.

Too good to eat!

My brother braved the sales at Milton Keynes today.  He came back with these gorgeous cakes for our evening meal.  They tasted as good a they looked.

Boxing Day

Now Christmas is over, time for stitching!!  ;0)
I managed to complete this panel last night at last!  Way behind my planned schedule, I need to do a lot of stitching over the next two weeks. Off to start the next panel.

Christmas visitors.

One of the things I enjoy doing when staying at my Mothers is watching the birds on the feeders.  I tried to take photo's of all the different types, unfortunately they move far too quickly to get a good image.  Goldfinches,Chaffinches, Cole Tits, Long Tailed Tits and a Mistle Thrush were all camera shy.

In my post today.

A few weeks ago Gina  asked if any Bloggers had any old lace they didn't need  and the story that went with the lace for her latest project for her Degree Course.  I sent a couple of bits and I got this today.  Postcards of her finished book, wrapped in a 'lace' doily.  Her book looks stunning, I would love to see it in the 'flesh.'
I also received an invitation to E.R.T.F.'s forthcoming exhibition, I shall look forward to seeing their work again as  I saw a previous exhibition in Cambridge last year.
Just as I was going out to deliver my Christmas cards at last, I was given this box by a delivery person.  Inside was a .......
A stunning bunch of flowers for Christmas from my Aunt, the Cinnamon sticks look lovely and make my room smell wonderful.
One of the problems with all the cold weather has been the effect it has had on buying Pansies and Polyanthus, as they have been burnt by all the cold.  Mum needed some for a Christmas arrangement she is making as a present.  She was unable to find any in her area, so I said that I would try and find some.  Easier said than done, I started my search yesterday and finally tracked some down for her today;0)
