A lucky find.

The first day of my school holiday started with a trip to the dentist to mend a broken tooth:0(, the good thing was that it gave me a chance to look in the charity shops to see what books I could find. I couldn't resist this colouring book, it was worth it just for the first letter, A for Acanthus, as I love peacocks, but lots of other good designs that could be useful, ONE DAY!

I also managed to do some gardening, my Yucca has made a wonderful show this year.

The best bit of my day was looking after my youngest grandson for the afternoon, I had him all to myself.

After feeding the Koi in the pond, he spent ages with this fishing game, before we snuggled up together in a comfy chair so that I could read some stories to him-wonderful!! One very happy Nanny!!!!

Off to do some stitching now.

A long way to go.

I have done some stitching tonight on my panel. Approximately sixteen inches, all the green, is now completed. Another forty or so inches to go. On to the yellows tomorrow.
Sorry it's not a good photo, but the light is shinning on the water soluble film. I have got my youngest grandson round to look after for a couple of hours tomorrow afternoon, I shall have to make some play dough. ;0)

Pimms in the sun.

An early start to get to the church in time for our friends son's dedication service. Then back to the village for a bar-b-q and Pimms. The children all played and shared beautifully and just didn't seem to feel the heat or run out of energy, unlike the adults!!

Regional Day

Regional Day at Letchworth today in this old school.

Our Y.E had made glasses/masks on a collage background for their entries in the competition 'Vision East'. They were the first ones to go on display. In fact there were in the end very few other entries, such a shame.

The first lecture was on the Tudor wardrobe, thank goodness we don't pin our garments together when we are wearing them.

A very hasty lunch so as not to miss the lecture from Paddy Killer.(too much talking !!) As the microphone was not working properly, it was very hard to hear what she was saying, but we were able to view the slides of her work.

Our youngest Y.E won the competition, she won a selection of Maderia threads. All the Y.E who entered the competition were given a goody bag of threads from Maderia.

The garments in the pictures below are made by students at the school. All from recycled materials.

This jacket, sorry I couldn't get a better photo, the railings were in the way, was created with train tickets. (also had a matching bag)

This dress was made from Lottery tickets. What talent!

We were all given a Maderia goody bag containing a skein of thread and colour charts.

I was quite restrained with my spending. A few packets of beads and some Indian wood blocks, but I did manage to book The Silk Route for our Regional Day next year.

End of term :0)

At half past one this morning I had thought this quilt finished, BUT, when I looked at it in the cold light of day, I decided I needed to brighten up the grass. Out came the Lumiere paints so that I could paint in the little circles I had machine stitched.

The T.A.'s were very happy with their quilts.

The last day of term always is tearful saying goodbye to our little cherubs. I am looking forward to the break, the last few weeks of term are always so hectic.

Tomorrow I am off to Letchworth for the E.G. Regional Day. We have a talk by Dr Jane Malcolm-Davies in the morning 'Dressing the Tudors' (my favourite period in history) and the Maderia Lecture in the afternoon is by Paddy Killer 'Life in Detail'. There will be some traders there to tempt us to spend some money too!

Finished!!

Now that I have finished the two quilts, I can get to bed.

Back to the flower panel tomorrow night.

It's 11.35pm and I am still stitching the presents for my TA's. I think I could be going to bed very late!

Making progress.

All being well, I shall get these two quilts finished by Friday. I have only got the yellow quilting left to do and then it's the bindings.

Tropical Wings

We had a good school outing, the children were well behaved and enjoyed the outing.

We could have spent hours watching the meercats.

The otters were having lots of fun on their water slide.

The wallabies reminded me of my trip down-under 12 years ago.

Unfortunately my pictures of the tropical butterflies didn't turn out as my shutter speed was too slow. I wont bore you with the other photo's, but a place well worth a visit if you are in the Chelmsford area.

When I came down for my early morning cuppa, this was on the kitchen floor, a hawk moth. It was too big to go under a 1 pint beer glass!
